Children are supervised and mentored by adults. Our house parents nurture and direct our children. The ranch actively recruits adult role models from the community who have a special talent or expertise to share and assist our children in mastering new skills.

Children fully participate in their own home and daily living chores. They are active in learning to cook, clean house, do laundry and to do day to day chores associated with maintaining a home.

A garden and greenhouse allow the children to fully participate in growing their own food, preserving it and the enjoyment of preparing and eating it.

A small flock of chickens are maintained for egg production. The children help in caring for the chickens and raising baby chicks.

Beef cattle are raised on the ranch and the children learn how to raise a calf, feed and doctor it and all the chores associated with animal husbandry. Many of our children enroll in the local 4-H program and choose projects of interest to them.

Horses are kept on the ranch for horsemanship classes and equine therapy. Large indoor and outdoor riding arenas are located on the ranch so the children can ride year-around. Children learn how to care for a horse, including the proper use of tack and equipment. Other animal projects will be initiated as the interest arises.
Arts, crafts, music, expressive writing and theatrical performances are encouraged and promoted rather than passive activities such as TV watching and video games.

Every child is encouraged to develop his own personal talents. Service to others is emphasized with an awareness that each of us has something significant to contribute to make the world a better place.

Children are encouraged to attend church and spend time developing their spiritual life. Opportunities are provided for children to attend youth groups and other wholesome activities with their peers. Christian service to others is encouraged.

Winter activities include, skiing, skating and snowmobiling.

Summer activities include fishing, boating, swimming, horseback riding, hiking , sailing on Lake Koocanusa and camping.

Future Projects: Woodworking and mechanical shop to teach the proper use of tools and equipment and for general maintenance and repair of items on the ranch.
